Canada, the world's second largest country by area after Russia, occupies the northern part of North America.  It extends from east to west from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean and north to the Arctic Ocean, hence the motto: From coast to coast.  It shares land borders with the United states, south and northwest (Alaska).  The country is more precisely a federation of 10 provinces and 3 territories.

Guyana

Capital: Georgetown

The co-operative Republic of Guyana, previously known as British Guiana, is a sovereign state on the northern coast of South America.  Guyana was a former colony of  the Dutch and (for over 200 years) of the British.  It is teh only state of the Commonwealth of Nations on mainland South America, and it is also a member of The Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Guyana achieved independence from the United Kingdom on 26 May 1966, and became a Republic on 23 February 1970.  Guyana is known as the "Land of many waters", and is bordered to the east by Suriname, to the south and southwest by Brazil, to the west by Venezuela, and on the north by the Atlantic Ocean.
